So finally have a new update for the Fanfiction Reader. It includes a couple of things that have been asked of me these last few weeks. This includes story title and chapter number at the top of the screen. It also includes a custom color setting in the settings menu.
Now I’ve also been asked for some features that I just can’t really provide in a ad version of the app. Features such as allowing reading of the stories outside of the app. If I allow that, then I can’t make any revenue from the app. On the flip side though, many people have also asked me for a ad-free donation version of the app. I think I’ll release one soon. This is how I’ll do it. For features that would lead the user away from my app, it will be available in the donation version only. Also, any new features will be put in place 2 weeks before being in the free version.
How does that sound?

I’d definitely buy it, it’s made fanfiction reading a lot more convenient. I don’t know how much you would charge but given that you seem to be making barely anything per month per user then I’d guess that even a dollar or two would make sense, I’d be happy to pay more though if it’s a once off.
The main reason I came here was to make a feature request though. Is it possible to have a browse Author option when opening a story? I’m currently reading through a series and every time I finish a story I have to go search for an author. That or making Author searches bookmarkable. That would be great

Sure, I’ll look into adding that feature soon.

Feature now in with the latest version of the app. Just tap on a story in the library and then go to ‘Browse Author’

Sweet, thanks. I’ve bought the paid version.

Hey. Enjoying the app. I recently had to factory reset my HTC View and before I did it, I chose the “save to SD card” for each story. I assumed that it would save to the mounted SD card, but I can’t seem to locate how to restore the stories. I also did a straight copy of the tablet’s memory if the stories might be hanging out in that data.
Thanks

Hi. The “save to SD card” feature was meant actually to just move to storage of stories from internal memory to the SD card, since internal memory is limited. I actually never created the ability to restore from SD card.
I am in the process of testing a new feature to backup/restore the database though (for the premium users mainly), but I doubt that feature will help you at this point since you have already had a factory reset.
If you can wait, I will look into doing something to restore the story back from the SD card once you’ve saved it. The stories are still on the SD card, just need to tell the app how to find it, and fetch the story details from fanfiction.net (author name, etc)

Have you considered including the info in a header of the file, too late now I guess but something for the backup tool right?

Hello. After a bit of a disagreement with Google Wallet, I’ve upgraded to the premium fan fiction reader. Is there a way I could go about transferring stories from the free app to the paid app?
In regard to my previous question, I would LOVE to be able to back up and restore stories. Even if all you could do was export the story IDs and have me enter them manually, that would still be an improvement.
A way to have the reader pull up my favorites list would be awesome, too.
Oh and a pony. Definitely want a pony.

I’m in the testing phases for a updated version that will let you back-up/restore the stories. this will also allow you to move the stories from the free version to the premium version.
